A Bad Place to be Born Sick

China in mid-19th century was not a bright place. The country always had problems, mainly in the  rural regions. Towards mid of the 1800 Chinese had just of be humiliated frightfully by the power of the real British marina and the poverty had taken the rural regions that a weak Government was unable to manage.

For this reason the infanticide - common practice in China, but that increased with hunger and war, was a natural thing for the farmers of this period. When Tai Djin was born in 1849, was clear that not was someone that was destined to live. Their parents, today unknown, believed that had brought a monster to the world, because the baby was completely covered of hair, he suffered a condition known as Hypertrichosis by which decided to abandon him in a river nearby.

But Tai challenged the same slogans of the destination. His cry made that some monks of the legendary Shaolin Temple, passing through there, noticed their presence, and the religious decided to take it with them to the temple. Just to see it was clear that any family would adopt him, tried to offer it, but effectively nobody it accepted, and the monks decided to adopt it as one of them. It was baptized Su Kong Tai Djin

Normally, a Shaolin monk must choose one of the combat styles to deepen their skills. But Tai Djin was not an ordinary student. He had born and grown with the monks, had learned of them each one of their secret and adopted their methods. Knew, also, that was condemned for good, rather than bad to remain always in the temple, because nobody would accept if came to out of there.

For this reason, the young decided to devote his life and work to dominate all the variants of the martial Arts of the temple. In accordance with the information provided by the great master Sin Kwang Thé (who narrated the history of Tai Djin, that not appears in the few documents that are of the Temple), Tai was the first in dominate 200 different hands systems and 140 of weapons. It was a born talent who decided to serve, of heart, to the monks.


The Legend of Tai Djin


Is complicated to set where ends the story and where begins the legend of this peculiar participant of the Shaolin art. Therefore, follows the story of the Grand Master, Tai talents were such that won the support and respect of his fellow: it is said that it came to dominate almost all of the Shaolin arts when every Grandmaster dominated barely 1/10 of this art. These skills would make him the great master of Fukien.

When Tai met for the first time with the other Shaolin masters (12 in total), representatives of the China Shaolin Temples, tells that all teachers made a reverence. Tai, rather than return the greeting, as was tradition, took a knife that threw to the curtains in where was hidden a spy (surely, a killer). Tai would have detected his presence through the breath, because there were 13 sighs in the room, not 12.

To end the legend of Tai Djien, it is said that has made part of the last resistance of the temple at the beginning of XX century, and that was between who took the decision of burn it before the threats of an imminent attack from the troops of the Chinese State. The temple, was emptied of its more precious objects and burned by the monks. This last story also is imbued in the legend. After the destruction of the temple, Tai Djin would have disappeared from the public scene, perhaps waiting for more propitious times. His life, like his legend, today is just a series of patchwork.
